Jersey Women Set for T20I Inter-Insular Showdown

Jersey Women will renew sporting rivalries this Sunday as they take on Guernsey Women in a double-header of Women's T20 International matches. The two official T20I fixtures will see the islands go head-to-head in a battle for inter-insular bragging rights, with both teams eager to showcase the continued growth and strength of women's cricket across the Channel Islands.

The Inter-Insular matches are a highlight of the cricketing calendar, bringing together players from both islands in a contest steeped in history, pride, and passion. Women's inter-insular cricket has grown significantly in recent years, producing memorable encounters and providing an important platform for the development of the female game.

Jersey enter the series looking to build on recent international progress and the continued development of a talented squad that combines experienced performers with exciting young prospects. The team has established itself as a rising nation within Associate women's cricket, with a strong focus on player development and international competition.

Jersey Women's Head Coach, Liam Cook said:

“I am really looking forward to getting the squad back together to as we look to retain the Inter-Insular title against Guernsey. It's a great opportunity to start the summer with two home matches at Grainville. We've had a number of players performing well in county, club and university cricket in the UK, and Sunday's matches provide an excellent chance to reunite the group and build on that form.

We're also delighted that two players who have progressed through the Walkers HERA Legacy Programme have been called up to the senior squad for the first time, which is a fantastic reflection of the pathway's success. We're excited to get the summer underway and hope to see plenty of home support for our first T20 internationals of the season”.

Jersey Cricket encourages supporters, families, and cricket fans from across the island to come along and support the team in what promises to be an exciting day of international cricket.

Squad: Chloe Greechan (c), Aimee Aikenhead, Olivia Bastin, Maria Da Rocha, Erin Duffy, Daisy Fisher, Kate Follain, Lily Greig, Mia Maguire, Analise Merritt, Trinity, Smith, Grace Wetherall & Jemma Wery.
