Jersey Cricket and St Michael’s School Announce Strategic Partnership

Jersey Cricket and St Michael’s School are pleased to announce a new collaborative partnership that will strengthen cricket provision on the island while delivering significant benefits to both organisations and the wider community.

The agreement brings together Jersey Cricket’s expertise in facility management and player development with St Michael’s commitment to providing high-quality sporting opportunities for its students. Through this partnership, both parties will maximise the use and quality of cricket facilities across the year.

As part of the outdoor agreement, St Michael’s School will benefit from a comprehensive, professional grounds maintenance programme delivered by Jersey Cricket. This include year-round outfield and square maintenance, specialist consultancy, annual square renovation, and scheduled turf treatments. The enhanced pitch quality will provide a consistently high standard playing surface for school fixtures and training, supporting student development and elevating the overall sporting experience.

In return, St Michael’s School will become an official out ground for Jersey Cricket, hosting junior training sessions and matches while also enabling expanded community and club cricket activity. This increased access supports participation growth and provides more opportunities for players across all levels to train and compete.

The indoor agreement further strengthens the partnership by granting Jersey Cricket structured access to St Michael’s sports hall during the winter months. This includes regular weekday and weekend training slots, as well as exclusive access during school holidays. The arrangement ensures year-round training continuity, helping to develop players regardless of weather conditions, while also providing secure, dedicated storage for cricket equipment.

For St Michael’s School, the partnership delivers enhanced facility standards, expert support, and a stronger connection to the island’s governing body for cricket. For Jersey Cricket, it provides vital infrastructure to expand programmes, improve player pathways, and grow the game locally.

Jersey Cricket Head of Operations, Lee Meloy said ‘It’s essential that we expand access to both indoor and outdoor facilities, and this partnership with St Michael’s School is a major step forward in achieving that.

By creating an additional out ground for training and matches, alongside increased indoor provision through the winter, we’re able to provide more consistent, high-quality opportunities for young players to develop. It also supports our wider strategic focus of finding innovative ways to ease pressure on the National Cricket Centre and ensure we can meet the needs of our growing cricket community.”

St Michaels Headmaster, Henry Marshall stated “we are delighted to be partnering with Jersey Cricket in what is an exciting collaboration for sport on the island. Cricket has long been an important part of school life and this partnership will enhance the experience for our pupils, while also supporting the wider cricketing community in Jersey.

By working together, we hope to create greater opportunities for young people to develop within the game and ensure that cricket in Jersey continues to thrive at all levels”.

Together, this partnership represents a shared commitment to developing cricket in Jersey—creating better facilities, increasing participation, and supporting the next generation of players.
