Jersey Women’s national team travel to Paris, France next week to compete in a four-nation T20 international tournament from 5th - 8th May. The results of which will count towards the T20I women’s world rankings table.

Jersey, currently ranked 35th, has had a 3-year absence from ICC sanctioned cricket due to travel restrictions across Europe. The Women’s national squad will take on France (38th), Austria (41st) & Spain (unranked). The team have spent the last couple of seasons travelling to the UK and Northern Ireland for fixtures against Middlesex CCC, Sunrisers Academy & Northern Knights.

Head Coach, Lee Meloy, is optimistic about their chances. ‘The girls are really excited to get back into ICC cricket. Whilst the break from ICC matches has been frustrating at times, we have spent the last 2 years playing some tough cricket in order to be exposed to the skills required at the next level. We are still a young side but the players are ready to go out and show off their individual skills, which in turn, will create positive results for the team’.

‘The squad has a lot of potential to kick on over the next few years, so it’s a very exciting group of players to be working with. That all starts this summer with the France tournament, the return of inter insular cricket, a visit from Northern Knights and another tournament in Europe in August’.
