Jersey Cricket Statement: Squad Selection for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier

Jersey Cricket issues this statement following the parallel press release announcing the 15-player squad selected to represent Jersey in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, taking place in the Netherlands from 29 June to 12 July 2025.

The squad includes Nick Greenwood, a player currently involved in legal proceedings in Jersey which have become public in recent days.

As the matter is now subject to ongoing legal process, Jersey Cricket will not comment further on the incident or on any matters that are not cricket-related. However, we can confirm that Jersey Cricket is not contributing to or funding any legal costs related to this matter.

Sarah Gomersall, CEO of Jersey Cricket, said:

“We acknowledge the seriousness of the situation and are disappointed that it has arisen. However, with legal proceedings ongoing, we are not in a position to comment further at this stage.”

In determining squad selection, Jersey Cricket has considered precedent set by other international cricketing bodies, including New Zealand Cricket and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), who have in past instances permitted players facing non-cricket-related legal proceedings to continue to represent their teams. Consistent with this approach, we have selected players based solely on cricketing merit.
